Agriculture 101 for Health and Nutrition Practitioners

Resource Type:
Documents

Leveraging agricultural interventions for improved nutritional outcomes is viewed as fundamental to achieving genuine and sustained household level food security, especially for the most vulnerable. However, reality tells us nutrition and agriculture staff often talk past each other. Nutritionists feel agriculturalists can be insensitive to the nutritional needs of the vulnerable. Agriculturalists feel nutritionists don’t understand the complexities of what they do. So the end result is that both work in their silos and opportunities for joint programming is lost. In this CORE Group Pre-Meeting Session Spring 2012, participants explored strategic openings for having meaningful conversations with agricultural staff.
