Globalization, modernization, climate change and economic impacts are resulting in major changes in agriculture and food markets. Positioning small-scale producers as entrepreneurs and connecting them to growing markets offers an opportunity to enhance their resilience in the face of these changes. However, this process is difficult because they usually have fewer resources and are often risk averse. This session will discussed some of the challenges in using a market-based approach to target vulnerable small-scale producers, and explored practical solutions that have been used to address them.
