Animal Source Foods for Nutrition Impact: Evidence and Good Practices for Informed Project Design Workshop

Land O’Lakes International Development and the International Livestock Research Institute are pleased to announce a webinar option for the upcoming Animal Source Foods for Nutrition Impact: Evidence and Good Practices for Informed Project Design Workshop. This one-day event will be held on the ILRI Nairobi campus from 8:30am to 5:00pm Thursday May 4th. Due to limited space, the in-person workshop is by invitation only, however we will be streaming portions of the day as a webinar (and will also have videos available later).

The webinar will stream during the day from approximately 8:45 AM- 5PM East Africa Time (6:45 AM-3PM GMT). A detailed agenda will be shared with webinar registrants prior to the event, so they can tune in to sessions they are most interested in.

Sessions during the day will include:

  1. Why ASF are critical for nutrition, especially during the first 1000 days
  2. Overview of the pathways of impact of livestock programs on household nutrition
  3. Presentation of an upcoming ILRI sponsored review of the global evidence linking ASF and nutrition
  4. Practical field experience illustrating the impact of livestock (poultry & dairy) interventions on household nutrition

Speakers include Jimmy Smith, John Ellenberger, Delia Grace, Paula Dominguez-Salas, Jennifer Lane, Robyn Alders, Carmen Jaquez and more!

This event is designed for the development practitioner and focused on sharing evidence and best practices to inform project design and approaches for improving the nutrition of women and children through animal source foods. Presentations will have a specific focus on Kenya and other East African contexts. Attendees will include NGOs, contractors, the private sector, donors and government. Speakers represent the research and development communities.

We may have a few spots remaining for in-person attendance; if you or a colleague will be in Nairobi and are interested in attending, please email your name, organization, and position to to inquire about available space. Apologies, but there are no travel stipends available to attend the event.

This event is the fourth and final event in a year long, USAID/FFP TOPS funded learning series on Livestock, Animal Source Foods and Household Nutrition, organized by Land O’Lakes International Development in collaboration with the International Livestock Research Institute.
