Published by CARE, this policy report outlines how the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are exposing existing flaws in food systems, many of which stem from gender inequalities and the unfair treatment of women and girls. CARE’s new analysis of 73 global reports proposing solutions to the pandemic-related food crisis shows that nearly half of the reports do not refer to women and girls, none of the reports consistently analyze the gendered effects of the pandemic and hunger crises, and only five reports propose concrete actions to resolve the gender inequalities crippling food systems.
