Supporting the economic recovery of crisis-affected people and communities is a priority for many donors and implementing agencies, and rightly so. Affected people often rate basic and income needs as their top priorities during and after crises. However, displacement, violence, disaster, and uncertainty take a heavy toll on affected people, especially their emotional and mental health. This makes finding a job, starting a business, or learning a trade even harder when these often ‘unspoken’ needs are not addressed.
