The Climate Adaptation Learning Activity (CALA) works to improve the quality and effectiveness of climate adaptation efforts funded by the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) through the generation, analysis, and dissemination of evidence, and by supporting implementing partners to share, learn, and adapt. The activity will focus on four core objectives:

  • Climate Adaptation Programming Desk Review will focus on creating a shared understanding, across implementing partners and BHA on common climate adaptation approaches in BHA programs.
  • Climate Adaptation Programming Regional Learning Events will foster knowledge sharing and capture lessons learned through implementation of previous and ongoing climate adaptation programming.
  • Climate Adaptation Programming Meta-Evaluation will provide insights into effective means of addressing climate risks across the full range of humanitarian assistance programming by analyzing previous evaluations of BHA- and non-BHA-funded climate adaptation activities.
  • Climate Adaptation Programming Learning Agenda will identify and prioritize key evidence gaps and align research and learning efforts across the implementing partner community through development of a relevant climate learning agenda.
