About

Under the IDEAL Small Grants Program, the IDEAL Micro Grants aim to identify and address knowledge and capacity gaps in food and nutrition security programming around the world.

Emergency and development implementing partners will utilize these small grants to fund and grow innovative ideas that will benefit the food and nutrition security community. These grants will provide funding towards existing projects to leverage opportunities for innovation and learning or they can fund new initiatives. Grants will be used for a number of activities, such as testing innovative approaches, strengthening knowledge management systems, supporting applied research, disseminating new tools and best practices, and more.

In July 2019, with generous support from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), IDEAL invited emergency and development organizations to apply for Micro Grant awards of up to $50,000. In the first round of Micro Grants, IDEAL expected to award more than a dozen grants to eligible organizations of all sizes around the world. These Fixed Amount Awards (FAAs) will help develop tools, conduct topic-specific learning events, or fund practical field-level approaches that address capacity and knowledge gaps in food and nutrition security programming in emergency and development contexts.
