This report examines enteric pathogen transmission along environmental pathways to children under two in rural Kenya—Samburu and Turkana counties. These communities are primarily pastoralist and agro-pastoral, with high animal ownership and poverty rates, and have largely been excluded from prior studies due to their remote location and the insecurity of the area. Given that repeated exposure to enteric pathogens can potentially worsen acute malnutrition, this report provides context-specific evidence to serve as a foundation for potential intervention development.
