About

SCALE employs multi-faceted approaches to help strengthen the technical capacities of implementing partners in agriculture, natural resource management, and alternative livelihoods. Our support mechanisms include:

  • In-person and remote training of trainers
  • Technical mentorship
  • Peer-to-peer learning opportunities

We work closely with implementing partners to design cascade training plans and develop tools and techniques for monitoring the quality of interventions over time. While we are always working with implementing partners to identify new topic areas for capacity-strengthening support, some we currently support BHA partners across a range of technical areas. Current technical areas examples of where we can support BHA partners include:

  • The implementation of resilient agriculture approaches at the garden, compound, and field levels
  • The application of market-based approaches to employment and portfolios of work
  • The designing of more resilient and sustainable agricultural production in emergency contexts

Together with the PRO-WASH award, SCALE has also launched the adapted Make Me a Change Agent (MMCA) training package that strengthens the communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills fundamental for frontline agriculture and livelihoods staff to support effective behavior change during their day-to-day activities.

We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with are always working with implementing partners to identify and prioritize new topics for our capacity strengthening efforts. If your program has ideas or would like to discuss engagement with SCALE further, contact us at scale@mercycorps.org.
