This document outlines a set of eight principles for locally led adaptation in the context of recovery from COVID-19. It is intended for adaptation stakeholders, including policymakers, practitioners, and organizations focusing on resilience building. The target audience includes a diverse range of local people, such as women, youth, children, disabled and displaced individuals, Indigenous Peoples, and marginalized ethnic groups. The resource serves as a guide to support a historic opportunity for giving greater voice and agency to local communities in their adaptation efforts. It invites stakeholders to endorse the principles and engage in a ten-year learning journey, fostering collaboration to navigate the challenges in financing, programming, and policy support necessary for building resilient and regenerative societies, economies, and ecosystems.
