River-basin Agencies and Groundwater

The main objective of this overview is to draw the attention of surface-water managers, hydrologists, and others to:

• the critical importance of groundwater systems to basin-level management of water resources, both in the case of national and international river systems.
• the vital water supply role played by the large natural storage of groundwater systems, especially in adapting to climate change impacts on surface water.

This Series is designed both to inform professionals in other sectors of key interactions with groundwater resources and hydrogeological science and to guide International Association of Hydrogeologists members in their outreach to related sectors.
