This practice note from IDEAL highlights how the Albarka activity worked through local partners and systems and strategically sequenced, layered, and integrated its interventions to promote humanitarian-development-peace (HDP) coherence. It draws on team members’ experience supporting the activity, which is implemented in some of Mali’s most volatile, food-insecure, and at-risk regions. The note examines how the activity was designed and implemented to improve the resilience of individuals, households, and communities, and practical lessons for operationalizing these approaches.

This document is part of IDEAL’s HDP Coherence Practice Note Series, which responds to a demand among food and nutrition security practitioners for clear examples of ways to operationalize the HDP coherence principles outlined in Programming Considerations for Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Coherence: A Note for USAID’s Implementing Partners. Click below to access our HDP collection page for additional related resources.
